This 14th edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award has been juried by Elizabeth Avedon, Rebecca Robertson , and Analy Werbin. A total of 805 photographers from 67 countries have submitted 6,240 photographs for consideration of the pre-selection team of the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards, and the final selection of the jurors. In this occasion, the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards has waived or discounted entry fees of around 30% of the total amount of submitters.
Snezhana von Büdingen is the recipient of the JMC Award in the Professional Section, and N.A. Vague the recipient of the JMC Award in the Non-Professional Section. Although Snezhana is Russian she now lives in Cologne, while N.A. Vague lives in Munich. In this edition Germany was therefore, the winning country.
SNEZHANA von BÜDINGEN, Russian/German, is an independent photographer living in Cologne, https://www.vonbuedingen.com/. Von Büdingen studied communication management with a major in journalism at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück. From 2016 to 2017 she completed her photography studies at the Cologne Photoacademy. She focuses on portrait photography and reportage.
N. A. VAGUE, German, is an emerging fine art photographer living in Munich, https://www.n-a-vague.com. She creates staged self-portraits and still lifes. Influenced by a degree in marketing communications and jobs within the media industry her work explores the relationship between media and popular culture as well as the clash between inner calm and outer noise.
According to the rules of this edition of the Award, both awardees will have a solo exhibition in Barcelona at the FotoNostrum Gallery next March 2020 and will receive $1,500 each for lodging and travel expenses.
