SPECIAL EDITION OF THE JULIA MARGARET CAMERON AWARD FOR WOMEN PHOTOGRAPHERS.
Celebrating the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award, The Gala Awards is proud to launch a special edition of this Award focused in one theme:
Women Seen by Women.
THIS COMPETITION IS ALREADY CLOSED AND BEING JURIED
ELIGIBILITY AND THEME:
This competition is open to all women photographers worldwide and the theme is The Woman in the broadest extension of her visual representation: women at work, political statements about women, motherhood, discrimination, portraits… Women in different cultures, women in education and in performing arts… The theme is completely open and broad, aiming to have a vision of women about women, using all photographic techniques, being allowed all type of post editions, alternative processes and collages.
Images selected in past edition of any of the Awards and competitions of The Gala Awards can’t be submitted to this competition.
Photographers should submit a series composed of 2 to 5 images, conforming a coherent body of work, or part of a largest portfolio or series, or a representationof the overall work of the artist.
JURORS:
The selected images by the Jurors (a team of three women, one photographer, one photo editor, and one curator to be announced right after the final submission deadline,) will be exhibited in Barcelona at the Valid Foto Gallery on Q1 2018.
SELECTION FOR EXHIBITION:
Submitters should be able to send high resolution files (330 dpi) if their work is selected, to be printed and framed for the exhibition. The Gala Awards will charge the exhibitors the printing and framing cost, except to the Winner, whose printing and framing costs will be borne by The Gala Awards.
AWARD:
On top of her work framed and printed for the exhibition, the Winner will be invited to attend the exhibition, economy round trip paid plus $500 for lodging expenses.
The selected images will be part –and exhibited- of the 5th edition of the Biennial of Fine Art & Documentary Photography to be held in Q3 2018.

First series, composed of 2 to 5 images: $50
Each additional series composed of 2 to 5 images: $25
COPYRIGHT:
All submitters warrant that they own the work submitted and that they have the exclusive copyright. The Gala Awards recognizes that the author retain full ownership of the image copyright.
USAGE:
Submitters warrant that their photographs may be reproduced for the purpose of marketing and promoting The Gala Awards’ competitions and Awards, as well as in catalogues, posters, postcards, publications, and on the Internet. Such use is granted for no more than two years after the announcement of the works selected in this competition. Such use is granted without any payment to the photographer or featured models. Photographers will receive credit with each use, and allow The Gala Awards to sublicense their photographs to the press for reproduction in connection with The Gala Awards’ competitions and awards.
The Gala Awards has the right to reject and remove any entry that contains defamatory, racist, obscene or pornographic content, or that may be considered a criminal offence or violate any law.
