WINNERS OF THE 15th JULIA MARGARET CAMERON AWARD IN THE PROFESSIONAL SECTION, NON PROFESSIONAL SECTION, AND SPECIAL SECTION ‘THE FEMININE UNIVERSE’
This 15th edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers has been juried by Elizabeth Avedon. A total of 910 photographers from 63 countries have submitted 6,875 photographs for consideration of the pre-selection team of the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards, and the final selection of the juror. In this occasion, the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards has waived or discounted entry fees of around 37% of the total amount of submitters. Starting this edition, we have included a new section, only for male photographers: The Feminine Universe.
CHERAINE COLLETTE is the recipient of the 15th JMC Award in the Professional Section, and MARGARITA MAVROMICHALIS is the recipient of the 15th JMC Award in the Non-Professional Section. DAN NELKEN is the recipient of the 15th JMC Award in the Special Section The Feminine Universe.
CHERAINE COLLETTE, is a young emerging talent born in Ede, Netherlands. She has been recognized by art collectors and curators around the world, by combining contemporary photography and new perspectives of the natural world with digital painting and photo manipulation, with focus on capturing the world’s beauty. MARGARITA MAVROMICHALIS born in Greece and currently living and working in London, comes from a family of Greek diplomats and has spent her life living and traveling all over the world. She speaks five languages and studied translation and interpreting. Margarita studied at the International Center of Photography where she also served as a Teaching Assistant. Margarita is mostly attracted to street photography and the elements that evoke emotions and surprise in our every day life. DAN NELKEN was born in Israel and moved to Canada and then to USA when he was very young, and is now living and working in New York as a professional Photographer. He awarded Honorable Mention in the prestigious Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2018 organized by the National Portrait Gallery of London.
